Interactions won't allow a second attempt on a Mac

Jun 16, 2017

Hello,

We are having huge problems with an ongoing project we have. The main issue is, if viewed on a Mac, the second attempt at any interaction (MCQ? Drag and drop etc) stalls the programme and it has to be relaunched.

Any ideas on a fix for this? We are working on Storyline 2, the templates were originally built in Storyline 1 but updated.

Thank you

B

Hey Bryony!

That does sound odd and I'm happy to help here. As luck would have it, I work on a Mac! 🙂

I have a few questions to better understand what's happening here:

  1. When the course is accessed on a Mac, where is it being accessed from? Is it hosted on the internet or being viewed locally?
  2. What browser is it happening in?
  3. Can you share the .story project file you're seeing this in? You can add it right to a comment here as an attachment.

Thanks!

Hi Ali,

Thank you for getting back to me. In response to your questions:

1. The course is hosted on the internet.

2. This happens in chrome

3. I have attached a sample of these interactions.

To give you a bit more background, the interaction are part of courses which are about 40 mins long. The review version sent to our SMEs are hosted on the net, interactions can't be repeated on a Mac using chrome (other browsers haven't been tested). The finished version is accessed via an LMS where the interactions still can't be repeated on a Mac on what we believe to be multiple browsers.

Any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Bryony

Hey Bryony!

Thanks for those details and for sharing your published output with me. I'm actually having a little trouble uploading it to the web to test it. Would you be able to share your unpublished .story project file itself with me so I can do some further testing?

I also have a couple more questions here:

  1. What version of Storyline are you using and are you running the latest update for your version?
  2. Are you making any edits to the published output before zipping it, or are you using the "zip" option right in the Published Successful window in Storyline?

Let me know!

Hi Ali,

Sorry, the project file is attached.

1. We are using Storyline 2, last updated last month to Update 12

2. In this instance I didn't make any changes to the published output but I zipped it from the folder. When uploading to the LMS we edit the tincan file to remove certain lines, we have done this since the conversion from Storyline 1 to 2  (mimicking the tincan file we would get from Storyline 1) as it doesn't work otherwise.

I hope that helps, it would be great to get to the bottom of this

Hey Bryony,

Thanks for those additional details and including your .story file.

I published the course for web and zipped it using the "zip" option in Storyline 2, then uploaded it to Tempshare to test it in a web environment. I'm able to retry the interactions you provided in that example on my Mac in the latest version of Chrome 58 . I did a quick screen recording of what I'm seeing here

Take a look at your example over here on a Mac and let me know if you're seeing something different happen!
