Interactive Keyboard/Numberpad

Oct 23, 2018

So I'm building a course to mirror an HMI we use on one of our machines. It's much easier (hypothetically) to build a replica HMI through Storyline than to install and make available PLC software and hardware for all employees.

Anyway, I need to make this page (attached) work interactively. This represents a tension and I need the learner to be able to adjust by entering numbers directly from the number pad. There's no plus/minus/multiplication/division going on, just straight numbers. Whole and decimal. If they want it to be 89.50, I need the number field in the top white box to reflect their entry. Can you help me go about writing this? I've started with some thoughts I had, but it looks like this is going to take FOREVER with my thinking. I'm hoping someone has some better way out there.

BONUS: If you can think of a way for my BS button to erase the most recent number entered, that would be great too! I can make my ESC, CLR, and ENT buttons work appropriately, and know how to get the Current box updated based on entries, so I am not so worried about that. And the "Unassigned" triggers are irrelevant as well. I pulled this particular layer from another training for posting.

Thank you!

I could do that, but the accuracy of the HMI would be flawed a bit. I want it to be as interactive as possible so learners will gain a better understanding of each of the screens they can access and their purpose. For this screen, the range is actually 80-168 PSI, so they should be able to enter any number in between. I can just return a layer with a fault screen if they enter outside those parameters. It was wishful thinking I suppose. Thanks for trying to help!
