Internet Explorer Display issue

Aug 26, 2020

A learner has brought to my attention that when he takes the course in I.E. a layer window opens behind a base layer.  I confirmed this error through a webex.  When we run the course in chrome it works fine.  Is there a way to resolve that?  Is there a setting that I can change in my articulate course that gives preference to Chrome?

According to the Articulate 360 FAQs System Requirements section, Internet Explorer 11 is one among the supported web browsers of the program. I'd personally not recommend using that one since Microsoft's flagship browser is now Microsoft Edge and they have ceased development for IE 11. It's either IE 11 is no longer optimal for Storyline 360 or the user is using a much older IE version.

Although, per the suggested browser settings, you'd have to turn off compatibility view.

Here are two options we can go about this:

1. Turn off compatibility view:

Click the gear icon and the dropdown should show Compatibility View Settings. Ask the user to click that one to launch a new window.

Make sure the user removes the URL/domain used for the course if it is listed on the middle pane.  Also, make sure that the checkboxes below have not been ticked.

2. Check with the user to set his default web browser to be Google Chrome so he can launch the course and Windows launches it automatically to his preferred browser.

You can advise him to click on the Customize icon which can be found on the far right of the window and select Settings.

He's going to be led to a different menu, scroll down and he'll find the Default Browser section.

As soon as he clicks the button that says Make Default, it should prompt him of the change and his courses should launch automatically with chrome.
