Invaild or Corrupt File

Jan 29, 2015

I completed and saved a project. My sytem rebooted itself and asked me to update my Flash. Upon doing so and returning to Storyline to open my prjoect up, I recieved an error message saying the following:

The file is invalid or corrupt or may havebeen created in an earlier version of Storyline and can not open. I need help. my project is due today. Can this be restored?

Thank you,

Monique

Hi Monique,

I have experienced this issue also. My Storyline Application is current and I save regularly to a local drive. I'm currently doing re-work for a project due on Friday that was 85% complete.

This is the second module in a row that I have had this issue and my files have not been recovered either time. I'm not sure what is causing this issue, but I hope Articulate sorts it out.

Hi Mike,

Are you using Storyline 2? You need to enable the auto recovery and then save once you've started the file to allow the auto recovery to work as expected. Does  Storyline crash or something for you prior to losing the file or seeing that error message? If so, have you looked into pulling the error logs as detailed here?

Ashley,

Auto-recovery has been enabled. Haven't experienced any crashes. With this current project, I'm unable to troubleshoot as my computer was not shut down between last opening and current opening. Even tried a system restore to two days ago and no luck.

It's discouraging as this never happened with Storyline 1, but my first two modules in storyline 2 it has occurred.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for sharing the file here, I got the same message in regards to corruption and wasn't able to open the file. I also tried importing it into a new file, and that also didn't help with the file issue. Could there be anything else linked or embedded in this project that could be contributing to corruption issues?
