Invalid score in HTML5

Feb 11, 2016

Hi,

I'm testing a quiz with 60 questions so each correct answer is worth 1.66%. The flash version works fine but in the HTML5 version the scoring appears random and I can see an invalid score of 227.33% in the Storyline debug window.

I've attached both the storyline debug output and a screenshot highlighting the error.

I'm not a Storyline expert, I am just trying to get the quiz working correctly on HTML5 devices and am wondering whether there is any known problem with HTML5 and floating point scores?

Hi, Tim -- So sorry for your troubles, and thanks for the info you have shared! So that our Engineers are able to analyze your debug logs, I will go ahead and create a support ticket for you momentarily. You will be hearing back via the email address we have on file for you once they evaluate the details you have provided. Your patience is appreciated! :)

UPDATE on Tim's case for anyone who may be following along here. Our engineer, Victor, replied with the following:

"Thanks for contacting Articulate Support!

I understand that you're having issues with incorrect quiz scoring on the HTML5 version of Storyline publication. May I confirm if you've configured your quiz to submit answers all at once? There is a known issue in HTML5 output when answers are configured in this manner which we've submitted to our Quality Assurance team for review. As a workaround you can view your content using Articulate Mobile Player app or a Flash-enabled browser. If HTML5 is a requirement, you'll need to submit answers one at a time.

Let me know if you need anything else!"

Thank you Wendy.

I can then confirm that our modules are set up as submit answers one at a time, and not all at once.

Christie and Victor - this being the case - then the HTML5 issue described - should not affect the module as we have not configured the module to submit answers all at once. As you can clearly see in the debug documents from Tim, they are submitted each time and not all at the end.

Can you please advise further as there is clearly an issue here that is not explained by the HTML5 issue with answers being submitted all at once.

Your speedy response would be appreciated, Sarah

Hi, Yes, Tim and I work together.

If you could keep us both in the loop please. I don't know how to work on his support ticket, hence raising another. Whichever one you use is fine - as long as one of us is updated.

When are we likely to hear something back please?

As you can appreciate, this is causing us quite a lot of client contact so a speedy resolution is appreciated.

Many thanks, Sarah

Hi,

We have downloaded & published the course with Storyline v2.7 using identical settings and this does appear to resolve the problem, although I've not had time to perform a full test.

Attached are two storyline debug files (V1.10 & V2.7 respectively). Both cover up to the first 3 quiz questions which have been answered identically.

Excluding time-stamps the output is identical for both versions except the call to SetScore. Where V2.7 is correct & V1.10 isn't.

Also attached is a screen shot of the file comparison, which highlights the difference.

We have quite a number of Storyline courses, so to republish all with Storyline 2.7 would take some time & I'm not certain whether there would be any detrimental affects. Please advise whether this is likely to be our course of action?

Tim
