iPad Screen Recording for Articulate Storyline

Mar 06, 2015

Hey there:

I'm currently trying to figure out a way to record what I'm doing on my iPad to use as instructional video in my Storyline 2 course. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was just reading about Reflector, but are there any other options that are better and/or cheaper and/or easier? At this point, I don't think you can actually do a screen recording on an iPad using Articulate Storyline, right?

Thanks!

Hi Rachel,

Storyline doesn't have a built-in way to record what's on the iPad, but you could try recording through a site that replicates an iPad such as Browserstack.

I did a quick test and it captured my clicks and typing in Storyline 360, I published it here to Review for you to see it.  It's going to show you the mouse movements by default, so you still may need to play around with the fine tuning of things prior to publishing.

Hope that helps!

Any updates during the past couple of years? We use built-in screen recording with iOS, but this doesn't translate into Storyline screen recording with clicks, field input, and the ability to output those recordings to different formats for eLearning. Every year, more of our training is moving to mobile devices. Seems like this should be an area of focus for Articulate. Any plans?

Hi Stephen,

You can certainly use your screen recording videos from your iPad in Storyline as videos.

Screen Recording in Storyline is handled within the application. The challenge is using a different device that is not compatible with Storyline. Were you able to take a look at the solution Ashley shared above or another tool that may display your iPad screen on the computer for recording within Storyline?

You also mention output. The output from Storyline will be compatible with your iPad device provided it meets our system requirements:
