Is there a preferred hierarchy of triggers for a button?

I need it to jump to a slide, adjust a variable and change the state of an object on the screen. I've been successful in accomplishing two of the three, but the state of the initally hidden object will not change to "Normal"?

You need to add your variable as a condition. That way,  "When Timeline Starts," it will check for that variable trigger. When creating the trigger, click on Show Conditions, click the green + button and then set up the variable the way it needs to be adjusted.

I think if the variable is set as a trigger on the same slide, then you can use When Variable changes as a trigger, but across multiple slides, they have to be a conditional trigger.
