Issue with layers appearing when replaying the using the play bar

I've created a slide with some examples (A and B) on it that appear in different layers. The layers come on to the screen with a trigger at a certain point int he timeline. There are buttons (Example A and Example B) on the base layer which trigger the layers. There is a voice over which syncs with the movement.

It all looks fine when I play it. But if I click near the beginning of the play bar in the player window, for example to replay part the slide, or if I hit the replay arrow on the player bar,  then the layer shows before and the button doesn't and it is somehow replaying with the layer showing. Can someone please help me with this?
