Issue with layers SL2

Oct 25, 2019

I'm having a problem with layers working properly in Storyline 2.

I create a slide with a layer and then build the appropriate triggers. I set the base layer to NOT show. In preview and publish the picture used for the trigger is still visible in the layer despite the settings. An accompanying text box "hides" just fine, but the picture will not hide.

I've attached a sample to demonstrate. In short this issues seems to have come up several times in recent years and as recently as 6 months ago, and even identified as a potential bug... but alas no resolution seems to have been posted. Can you help?

Hi there, Russ. Thanks for sharing a sample, and so sorry you ran into that!

I see the same behavior when previewing your file in Storyline 2, Update 13. It looks like this oddity only happens with the Flash output since Storyline 2 previews in Flash, but the HTML5 one works correctly.

Here's a link to the published HTML5 output. Do you notice any oddities there? Let me know, and we'll work on our next steps from there!

Thank you for the reply Katie. You are correct – when published the HTML5 it works perfectly.
However, when I publish to CD I get the same result as when published to preview… is that because the publish to CD also uses Flash? This is kind of a big deal because we use CD for review (since the online review isn’t available in SL2). Thanks.

Hi Russ,

When publishing to CD in Storyline 2, this option does use Flash for the published output. Since the issue is affecting the Flash output, I was able to find some alternative workflows that I think might help for reviewing courses:
