Issue with navigation and buttons

Aug 11, 2021

Hello.  I am having trouble with a project I am working on.  I have attached it below.  I have slide 1.1 set up so that when the user clicks on each hotspot, they go to the particular slides to learn more.  When that path is over, the return button takes them back to slide 1.1 to select the next hotspot.  I have tried to set it up so that when the user visits each hotspot, the rectangle changes to visited.  Then I have the Continue button set to become visible when all 3 hotspots have been visited.

It's not working as planned.  The rectangles don't change state to visited when the hotspots are clicked and the Continue button doesn't appear.

Can someone help me trouble shoot please???

Thank you so much.

Kim

Hi, Kim, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ✨

Thank you for sharing your .story file!

Thank you for sharing your .story file! I'm happy to help!

The order of triggers is very important. If you look at one of your hotspots, this is what you have set up:

Windows 10 (1) 2021-08-11 at 4.33.13 PM

When the user clicks the hotspot, the first thing that happens is they go to slide 1.2, so the next trigger is never considered. If you move the bottom trigger to the top in all your hotspots, it should mark them as visited.

The other trigger you want to change is the one that turns your Continue button to normal. Since the button's state is being changed to hidden when the timeline starts, Storyline is not rechecking it after the rectangles are visited. Instead, I'd do the following:

  • Set your Continue button's initial state as hidden.

Windows 10 (1) 2021-08-11 at 4.35.13 PM

  • Change your trigger to the following:

Windows 10 (1) 2021-08-11 at 4.36.41 PM

I am attaching the edited file with those changes.

Let me know if this works!
