Issues with custom button states and animations when duplicating

Mar 01, 2022

Hi,

I have a couple of custom buttons, one of which has a Grow-animation triggering when hovering.
When duplicating the group of objects this button consists of, I experience 2 issues:

1. When duplicating, it does not copy the motion-path for the Grow-animation.

2. I can't fill the object that has the animation attached with another color in "Edit States". This is crucial, as the duplicated button is meant to be used on backgrounds of different colors.

EDIT:

I deleted the motion path and the trigger on the original button, and the button still retains its animation...I copied it and the new button also has the animation. If I check the animation-status on all objects, there are none assigned.
I still cannot change the fill-color of the hover-state.

I have no idea what's going on with Storyline, but this is some bizarre behaviour...

Please see attached .story-file.

The top right button is a copy of the lower left, but I inverted the colors. However, I'm unable to change the fill-color on the hover-state as this is the animated part (although as mentioned, you can't see anywhere that it actually has an animation-attribute)

I figured it out. There is of course two different rectangles in the hover-state, one animated and the original rectangle. I forgot I made another to animate when editing the hover-state.

The confusing part is that this animated rectangle which was created during editing of a state does not show anywhere. This should be visible on the timeline as a sub-menu to the rectangle that has it tied to its state, or in a sub-menu on the state in which it has been created.

It's hard to notice that the "state-object" actually is there when it has the same size and position as the original object.
