Issues with inserting audio, some work, some don't!
Apr 14, 2015
Hi there,
I am inserting the narrated files into my program and some work fine and others don't. All were recorded at the same time, same process, but when I insert certain files they load as condensed static, or a blank file. They were mp3s so I had the narrator send me them as wav. files. When I import those they show the import progress bar but nothing appears in the timeline. Also, one specific file triggers a lame.exe dialog box saying that " lame.exe has stopped working, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly and to close the program.
Is my Storyline is corrupted?

Hi Lianne,
I'm not sure what the lame.exe error message is referring to, so I'd definitely recommend ensuring you're working with local project files and then look at repairing Storyline.
Hi, Lianne! It sounds like your voiceover artist may be sending you .WAV files in a format that Storyline doesn't support. Here is an article detailing some very mainstream specs (16 bit, 44 kHz pcm) that should work in Storyline (or pretty much any other application):

The article also has links for how to apply those settings in a couple of audio recording programs.
You're right to want .WAV format, as Mp3 is already a compressed format, and would be double-compressed by Storyline in its publish process. So ask your VO artist to double-check their WAV export settings and try again.
I hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I did a test and ran an audio file through a Mac and
Storyline accepted the file...don't understand why but you are right, it
has to do with the VO artist's settings, but odd that only some don't work
out of the batch...
I will continue to troubleshoot the problem, thanks for the ariticle.
Lianne
You may want to share the information with your VO artists in regards to having audio files that are 16 bit 44 KHZ PCM WAV for best results. Or use those two links to update the files.
I have :)
Glad it worked out, Lianne! :-)
