Javascript Triggers not working
Jul 05, 2018
I've already raised a case with Support for this issue, but wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this.
I am trying to put together a sample Storyline file for our team to show them some examples of how to use Javascript in their courses.
The first trigger was to fire on Timeline start and retrieves the System Date and sets a variable to that in MMMM dd, yyyy format. This did not work. I tried adding in alerts to find where it got in the Javascript and none of my alerts worked.
I took the same code and added it to a button click trigger; this did not work.
I also created a new slide that only had a Javascript trigger on timeline start that executed
alert("hi there");
in it and that didn't work either.
Thoughts?

Hi Matthew...
Here's the console... I run other javascript enabled web pages without error. I have the same issue in IE, Edge, Firefox and Chrome.
In Chrome, finally saw something that makes me think there's a major issue with SL that's causing my scripts not to work.
app.min.js:3 actionator::exeJavaScript - this.execUserJs is not a function
(anonymous) @ app.min.js:3
Thanks,
Henry
The problem seems to be with the script on the button on slide 1.
Got it resolved. Just proves that I shouldn't copy text from a MS document into the Execute Javascript trigger. Although the double quotes look correct in the javascript editor, they are not the same. MS documents use smart quotes.
