JAWS - how to export screen text for accessiblity document?

Feb 08, 2018

I'm not sure if my client's process is different than others because I'm totally new to JAWS, but I'm currently working on a project with a specific process for JAWS.

We publish into a Word document and use that output to generate a text file for JAWS. (That final process is done by someone else, so I'm not clear on what exactly they do!)

As the ID, I have to prepare/clean up the text file. Storyline does not export text/items on the screen to the Word document, other than the Notes we have manually inserted there.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to automatically export the screen items to a Word doc to use with a screen reader?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Denise!  If you need a word document of your Storyline text in editable format, try exporting your course for translation

Also, I wanted to mention that Storyline content is accessible for JAWS screen readers, in case that will save you some work!  Here are the requirements for Storyline 360:

  • HTML5: JAWS 16 or later with Internet Explorer 10 or later, Google Chrome (latest version), Firefox (latest version)
  • Flash: JAWS 16 or later with Internet Explorer 11
