jump backward interrupts timeline

Jun 30, 2023

I have slides set to lightbox so the only way to allow an audience to rewind and fast-forward is to use the jump back and jump forward trigger. However, when testing the use of these it sometimes adjusts the timeline so items don't appear as they are supposed to. It looks like it freezes but the audio continues. Would someone be able to help me fix the issue so my audience can use the rewind and fast-forward buttons without errors in the timeline?

Hi MaryElizabeth,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag.

I can see that you have triggers setup in your slides that jump learners 10 seconds forward and backward into the timeline. I tested this functionality on my end but I wasn't able to observe any issues with objects freezing, although I may not be looking at the same thing you are.

With that being said, would you be willing to make a recording of the behavior you're experiencing so we can take a closer look at what's happening on our end?

Looking forward to your response!

  • if clicking multiple times "Rewind", the animation stops at the start (not freezing)
  • it seems a storyline bug - the (internal) trigger for start animation is not fired in this case (if using Lightbox)
  • if you press "pause" before multiple "Rewind" and then "Play" everything seems ok
  • I would not use "Rewind" and "Fast Forward" - it does not work reliably enough
