jump from a module to another

Oct 26, 2012

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well.

I am new in the community and think I will find answers to my questions!

I wanted to know if it is posible to jump to another module when you are doing a module.

For instance, if you are doing the chapter 1 of a module, at the end of this module, is it posible to have a button / trigger, in which you can click to jump to the chapter 2 of this module?

I know it is posible to jump to another scene. However, the objective of jumping to another module is to avoid having heavy e-learning package to post in a LMS / CD.

Thank you so much for your help and support.

Hi Lise and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

So, when you're saying "module" do you mean a published Storyline project (story.html)? Do you want to link from one story.html file to another story.html file?

You can use set a trigger to jump to a URL. You'd probably want to set the browser to open the link in the same window.

Here's a quick demo: http://articulate-community.s3.amazonaws.com/david/z/Link-1-to-2/1/story.html

This is a good tool to link projects.

I found another 'Discussion' about this topic and the answer was... 'NO, it is not possible', so please, could you confirm if it is possible to transit from uno storyline project to another?

THAKS so much for your useful tips.

Hi there, Roberto!  I'll try to provide some clarification for you, because it depends...

Yes, you can link your courses together by using their URLs in a hyperlink text, a "Jump to URL" trigger, or even as a resource in your Player, especially if your courses are both hosted on a web server.

What you might struggle with is tracking and reporting on your learners' progress within those linked courses.  If you are hosting your content in a learning management system, more than likely you will not be able to point to another SCORM module directly from within a course.  The other discussion that you linked was explaining that issue.

Where are you planning on hosting your content (web server, LMS, etc)?

Good morning,

I am also wondering about jumping to another storyline file (module). Again, I also want to create much smaller microlearning modules that can be followed by my LMS. I also do not want to create one big course.  The idea is to have learners spend just a few minutes at a time and not be overwhelmed by having to spend a ton of time on learning. Any new answers?
