Keep getting clock bullet points after upload

May 06, 2014

I have a powerpoint presentaion that was created in 2011. Everytime I upload the presentaions the bullet points turn into "clocks" icons rather than actual bullet points. I had someone else upload the same presentation and they are not getting this error... any suggestions?

Hi Randy,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

Can you provide a little more detail on this, please? By "upload the presentations" are you referring to inserting into Storyline, or do the bullets only change after you upload the project to a web server or LMS?

Also, if you could provide the PowerPoint file here, I'd be happy to try inserting this into a project on my end and see if I experience the same issue. If you're only having trouble with this after uploading the project to a server, it may help if you could share the .story file.

Thanks!

Hi Christine,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I got a little bit more information..back from my end user about the issue...

So the file looks fine when previewing it in storyline but afterpublishing it and then playing it back it shows clocks instead of bullets as itshould no matter what font or font size I use.

The storyline file has three power points that have been put together... can I just send you the storyline file? or do you need all three power points to trouble shoot the issue. Just tried to send you the story line file but I think its too big is there another way to send you the files?

Thanks for your assistance.

Hi Randy,

So the bullets look ok when viewing the .story file - it's only upon publishing and placing in your LMS that the bullets display as small clock icons? You mentioned your colleague doesn't see the same set up - are they looking at the course you published within the LMS or did they publish it on their own as well and place within the publish environment? If the .story file is too large to share here, you could either strip it down to a few sample slides that demonstrate the behavior or you can always connect directly with our support team, and I could send you directions to share with me directly.

Hi Ashley,

I have attached a copy of the partial story file for you to reference and have an answer to your question:

-are they looking at the course you published within the LMS or did they publish it on their own as well and place within the publish environment?

Ipublished it using the LMS tab and made no modifications to the output files

Hi Randy,

Thanks for sharing that part of the .story file. I took a look at it and within the .story file all looked ok, so I uploaded to SCORM Cloud here (which is an industry standard testing method for SCORM content). Everything looked normal for me there as well. Are you able to take a look at that version and let me know how it behaves for you?  After you've published it, are you viewing the content locally or within your LMS? You'll want to place within the intended publish environment to properly test.
