I have not seen a question like this before and my search returns nothing beneficial. I know there is not a built in option, but not sure if you have options with coding. Hopefully someone will be able to pop in and assist.
What is the need that you have for this functionality - are you just wanting a secondary trigger after the user releases something pressed for a previous trigger? Just curious.
I've got an idea for a very different type of way of using Storyline. Basically, I'm looking for a way to trigger a variable to true when a key is pressed and to false when the key is released. I suspect it is possible with JavaScript but I'm not sure of how to code it.
Originally, I intended for the action to take place while an arrow key was down. But there isn't a key up trigger available.
I ended up using the right and left arrow keys to start counting a slider variable up or down, ping ponging between two layers to keep counting going, which moved an image attached to the slider thumb button across the screen.
Without anything like an "onRelease" trigger, I had to add a trigger to the up and down arrow keys to stop the action.
Thanks for letting us know that a keypress release trigger is important to you, Suzanne! If you'd like, you can share more about how you would use it with our Product Team by clicking here.

Sounds exciting. Hopefully someone will be able to assist and I'm happy to follow along :)
Was there ever a resolution found for this? I'm looking for the same type of functionality.
I have a trigger on key press that changes an image to a state that includes an animated gif.
I want to set the state back to a static image when the user releases the button.
Anyone have any ideas?
I haven't seen an option like that yet Scott, but you could reach out to Cary directly using the "contact me" button on his ELH users' profile.
Keep us posted what you come up with!
I was trying to do a variation of the parallax view as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HIA38oAtT4

I never was able to figure out key release trigger.
That's a bummer, Cary, but thanks for confirming. 🙂
Would be great if we could have this function. I need it for a piece I'm working on.
