last slide doesn't show up in menu

Mar 02, 2023

Hi-

The last slide in a course which is the "submit results" slide does not show up in the menu when I view it in the player or when I publish it to Review 360. I have tried:

  • resetting the menu--still doesn't show
  • restricting the navigation--still doesn't show
  • the slide properties look correct too

Has this always been the case? I have 2 course that behave this way. I know I can add manually but I don't want to have to do this.

Any insight is appreciated.

Cheers,
Julie

A Results slide never shows up in the built-in Menu. I assume Storyline is set up that way because it could really mess up the programming if someone used the Menu to jump to the Results slide while taking, reviewing, or retrying a quiz.

If you really need the Results slide in the Menu, here's a workaround:

  • Add a slide called "Results" (or whatever title you want to appear in the Menu) just before the actual Results slide.
  • Set that slide to automatically advance to the next slide (aka the actual Results slide) when the timeline starts.

Caveat: You'll have to adjust the "PREV" button trigger on the actual Results slide to jump to a specific slide, because if it just goes to the previous slide, that will auto advance back to the actual Results.

You're welcome!

Here's a follow-up tip: To ensure users don't mess up the quiz by jumping to the Results, I suggest that you hide the built-in Menu on the Question slides. Here's how to do that:

  • Open the Slide Properties. (You can do this for each question. Or go to STORY VIEW, select all the questions, and then work with the Slide Properties panel, which appears in the lower right.)
  • In the Player features dropdown, select "Custom for the selected slides."
  • Deselect the Menu checkbox.
