Launching from an USB stick onto a Windows RT ideapad

Sep 30, 2014

I have created an Articulate Storyline  presentation but the person who wants to deliver it has an ideapad (Le novo)  yoga 11 with Windows RT. Is this possible????

Hello Alison - it definitely should be.  I would recommend starting with these directions for publishing content for local playback - http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/publishing-a-course-for-cd-or-another-local-source.aspx

(Note step 4 at the very bottom of the page that mentions playback from a USB drive.)

Hi, thanks you for your reply but really struggling. I have successfully published and delivered courses via USB stick before but this is the first time I have ever given it to someone with Windows RT 8.1 It just comes up with  'Does not have the necessary app".

Having a look online it transpires that Windows RT 8.1 is essentially like using a windows phone! Can't even use it to run chrome or full dropbox. It is proving to be a nightmare for the person who wants to run the course. Everything has to be app based in order for it to be delivered and alas there is no such thing available from the Windows store.

Oh dear!!

Hi

Thanks for your reply! When I publish for CD there doesn't seem to be an option for selecting HTML5 / deselecting Articulate mobile player options. When I try and launch - even from the USB it just doesn't work - it immediately requests an appropriate app. It is very frustrating, never had this issue before. All previous courses have been delivered via systems using standard windows. Seems to be a particular issue with Windows RT

Hi Alison and welcome to Heroes,

Are you able to publish for web and provide them a link in which they can play the course in a browser? I know that there is some information here in regards to running the courses on a Surface, or Windows RT tablet.  Launching it using the CD published version, it's based on running in Internet Explorer - so you may want to try searching for such an app within the tablet.
