Viewing courses on Surface RT tablet

Aug 21, 2013

I have just got a Microsoft Surface RT tablet for work purposes; part of the reason being to test on tablet format, e-learning we are starting to develop.

However whenever I try to view an course I just get a blank screen, sometimes with a little x in the corner. I have tried some test storys and even went directly to the "showcase" on the Articulate website but still no joy.

Can anyone help me out here as according to the Articulate website I should be able to view them!

"As of March 12, 2013, Microsoft allowed Flash content to run by default on Windows RT devices. As a result, Articulate Storyline and Articulate Studio '09 content can be viewed on on these devices, such as Microsoft's Surface tablet."

Hi Phil and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! What format were your courses published to? Where are you trying to view the courses? What browser?

Do you have all of the latest updates on your device? Flash was not supported until March I think.

Sorry for all of the questions, just trying to understand where the issue may lie.

Thanks!

Hi Leslie

Thanks for your reply. I have tried to view really simple test courses whic I published locally then transferred to my tablet. I tried publishing for LMS and Web with mobile options selected. I have no wifi access in my office so couldn't get online!. I did however try to access the showcase courses on the Articulate website when I got home and had exactly the same problem. I get a blank screen with a litle "x".

My tablet is straight out of the box on Monday and I have run Windows update on it and got everything I could, including a couple I noted that related to flash. It uses IE10 - I dont think Windows RT lets you run anything else!

Thanks

To update on this:

After a lot of faffing about and copious amounts of Windows Updating; I can now access the course I put on Articulate Online. I also tried publishing for web (locally and copying to tablet) and I opn the "story" page by double clicking, it still doesn't work, but if I drag and drop it onto a blank IE screen it opens and works fine!

I haven't tried the Showcase courses again yet - will do so tonight!
