Layers - triggers to return to base slide

Nov 30, 2022

Hi,

I am a new user to articulate 360 and developing eLearning courses. Can you please assist me? I have built a base layer with four slider layers. When I preview the course, the slider layers still have the play buttons that allow me to move to the next slide.  I would like to set up the slider layers so when you click next, they go back to the base layer and not to the next slide. Can you please explain how I do this?

Thanks, Chris

My preference is to take the player buttons off, and replace them with a shape or text box (built-in buttons do too many things I don't like) with a meaningful message. Something like "Return to Menu". If you have to keep them, read on.

Those Next buttons are not on the layers; they are on the base, and you can find the trigger on the base. To return to the base layer, you have to hide all the layers, but the trigger to hide a layer demands to know which specific layer you want to hide. So you create a device that hides all layers at once.

Create a layer that has nothing on it. Set its timeline to .1 or .25 sec. Go into its properties and set it to hide all layers, and to hide itself when its timeline ends. When it is shown, it hides all other layers, hides itself, and you see the base.

Then on the base layer, edit the trigger that says "Jump to slide next slide when the user clicks or swipes next". Change it to "Show [layer you just created] when user cli9cks next."
