Learners kicked out of course during session
Dec 14, 2017
Has anyone experienced an issue wherein learners occasionally get kicked out of a course completely during a session? This is happening sporadically and with no apparent pattern for testers both in Articulate Review and Cornerstone (using SCORM 1.2 and HTML5 with Flash backup), although the problem seems more persistent in the LMS.
The course is relatively short -- only around 50 slides -- but does use variables and some branching.
UPDATE: It turns out that learners are not actually being kicked out of the course; rather, the browser window in which the course is playing spontaneously moves behind other open windows during playback. The learner can no longer see the course, but can still hear the audio playing uninterrupted.
I could swear that I've seen behavior like that before, but it was so long ago that I don't remember the cause or the solution. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Steve,
What browser are you users viewing the courses in? Are they clicking to open links from the course in a new window/tab ? That could be covering up your course window. If you want to share the Review link here with us I can take a look!
This issues aren't happening in Articulate Review, only in Cornerstone.
The client is using IE11. No pop-up windows are being launched from the course.
It appears that my client has found a resolution to the issue (with some help from Cornerstone). There’s an IE compatibility setting in Cornerstone. After changing the compatibility to None, the issue no longer occurs.
Thanks for that update Steve, and yes with IE11 I know a few other users who were forced into compatibility mode and that has caused issues with the playback of content. So I'm glad you were able to resolve that!
