I know of no limit, however, be aware all inserted objects (like images) are published as individual SWF files and added to the imsmanifest.xml as resources per page. Adding a ton of images will cause more server overhead (may be a bit, may be alot depending you your files sizes and quantities).
It looks like Dennis is helping you out here, and I agree, I've never heard of a limit but you'll want to cautious when using a lot due to the file size and how the Storyline course will load everything.
