Linking a module to the LMS to record completion status
Feb 18, 2016
Hello everybody,
I have been producing some modules for my clients of which two have been loaded onto their website and LMS. They have set up the LMS so it can track if a user has logged into the modules, but the system is not tracking if they have actually completed each section.
As I have never been involved in setting up Storyline modules to talk to an LMS, I thought someone on this forum might be able to give me some instruction on how to do this. Are there any settings in the modules I need to 'tick' to create that link with the LMS?
Many thanks for any help.
Best regards
Fabienne

Really depends on whichLMS it is
OK. But does this mean the setting is to be done within the Storyline modules or in the LMS itself?
You need to publish storyline for LMS and set tracking details, either track by quiz or slides viewed you must set the completion status e.g. passed/failed. The status shouldn't matter for the LMS but in reality each LMS has its own preference.
You will also need to choose between Scorm 1.2, 2004 (4 versions) or Tin Can (xAPI) and most LMSs have preference here (although in reality most support Scorm 1.2).
Then dependent on the LMS it is either as simple as installing a scorm package or it requires grades and end points being set in the LMS.
Hi Phil,
Many thanks for all this advice. I will follow this and hopefully it will work.
I understand that my clients have set things into the LMS but it seems more needs to be one in the modules I guess, such as what you described. I will let you know how it goes.
Thank you very muc
