LMS says "zip file contains no courses"

Hello-

I am trying to upload a course to Halogen Software (the LMS used by our company), but the upload keeps failing saying "the zip file contains no courses". This particular course is a Spanish translation of a course I made previously, using Storyline 2. I had read in some different threads that special characters may cause problems, so I took special characters out of the publishing background information; I've tried publishing to my desktop and restarting Storyline, my internet browsers (I've tried on Chrome and Microsoft Edge), and my computer.

I have also tried manually zipping the files. When I did this, the course would upload, but it was blank when I previewed on Halogen. The player background color appeared, but that was it - there was no slide.

I'm not sure what else to try. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Attached is the zip file I have been trying to use.

Thanks for attaching the zipped output--you made my job easy. 🙂

I uploaded the output to SCORM Cloud here, and tested the link in Chrome v58. Everything appears to be working normally there! Can you test that link on your end, as well?

SCORM Cloud is industry standard for LMS testing, so we often use it to compare behavior with other LMS environments. If everything is working well in SCORM Cloud, that's great information to bring to your LMS support team so they can help you troubleshoot LMS-specific issues.

Thanks, Alyssa! So if it works on SCORM cloud, does that mean the issue is probably on the Halogen end rather than my actual file? It's just odd because I didn't have any issues uploading other files to Halogen - just this one!

I had logged into SCORM cloud this morning to test it as well, and it worked for me.

Just posting as an update so far: We are finding that when trying to use the zip file created by SL2 when publishing, the file will not upload to Halogen. We are continuing to get the "ZIP file contains no courses" error. However, if we zip the files ourselves, the zip file will upload but won't launch correctly. We are still trying to find a solution to make it launch correctly, but we are thinking for some reason the file is not getting zipped correctly when done by Storyline.

If/when we find a solution to make it launch correctly, I can post again.

Hi Alyssa,

I am having the same problem.  I never had any problem like this before. I keep getting this same error message "zip file contains no courses".  When I tested it out  on the SCORM cloud, I got the same error message.  So far, I have never had any issues with any of of my other Storyline 2 projects.  I have actually opened a support ticket, but kind of desperate as I need it up by tomorrow morning.  Please could you help me out.  Thanks,
