Log in screens and quiz tracking without an LMS

Sep 20, 2016

Hello everyone,

I am really new to developing in Articulate and am learning all about LMS systems, does anyone know of a way to create a log in screen to track a users training that is not connected to an LMS systems.

A follow on questions is, if the training is not linked to an LMS system and a user has to close the browser for whatever reason, will they be able to pick back up where they left off in the training or will they have to start all over. If they can pick back up in the last module they left off in, are any quiz scores that they have taken saved in the internet cache?

In our training, we would like to create a total results page to show a passing score for the entire training - this results page would include the result screen from 3 modules AND a cumulative exam.  If a user closes their browser after the second module and can start the training again at module three, will the final results page still display all of the results?

Any assistance with these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Heather

Hi Heather!  Welcome to Articulate! :)

If you need the ability to track your users' progress and/or scores from your course, you'll need to publish your course for, and host your course in a LMS.  Here are some alternatives to tracking course completion without an LMS.

Outside of these processes, perhaps some other community members can chime in with login ideas to authenticate when users are taking your course.

As far as controlling whether your users can resume their course where they left off, this article from our Storyline 2 User Guide explains how to make that selection.  Their progress and saved scores will be restored when they resume the course.  Even if your user can resume the course on the web, their results from any assessments will not be accessible by you the way they would be in an LMS.

You can have a final results slide which is made from other results slides generated as the user progresses through your course.  Again, if your user can resume their course, their scores from earlier parts of the course will be remembered and shown on the final results slides.

I know that's a lot of information, so let us know if you need help with anything!
