Loss of progress

Nov 18, 2019

Hello,

I recently lost close to 2 weeks of work I have completed for one of my e-learns. The file resorted back to it's originally development state and I lost all my updates.

Has this happened to anyone?

Hi there, Lisa. So sorry to hear this, and I'd love to help investigate!

Did you run into any error messages? Also, can I confirm that you're saving on a local hard drive (C:)? Working on a network drive or an external USB drive can cause odd behavior like lost changes, so I always like to rule that out as the culprit!

In the meantime, here's how to check your temp files to see if the auto-recovery versions are in there and a short recording on how to set that AutoRecovery setting!

  1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
  2. Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.
  3. Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
  4. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
