Markers/ URLs and Variables

Newbie here , nearly having computer rage. please help.
Aim: User has to click onto a marker which leads them to URL site before proceeding to the next page, if user tries to click onto next they will be unable to move to next slide.. but now i am stuck!!!
I have inserted a standard marker to have it jump to a URL when click on. that works fine but how do i let users through to the next slide once they have click onto the marker and opened the URL. Whether they read it i cannot monitor that. This is what i did, have i done it wrong. Is there any easier way, i hope this makes sense.
Trigger wizard:
Action: Adjust variable, Variable: Marker, Operator = Assignment, Value - variable, Marker, When State On All, Marker is selected on condition marker = = equal to true.
Marker variable was true/false - defaulted to false. PLease help me i want to cry.
All i want to do is let the user through now, that they have click onto the marker which has taken them to the URL..

I will say, Jan tends to be right on the money, so please check out his suggestion and let us know if that will do the trick, or if you had something different in mind. :)
Just a guess, but it seems that you are using this trigger to set Variable Marker equal to Variable Marker when the conditions are met.
Action: Adjust variable, Variable: Marker, Operator = Assignment, Value - variable, Marker, When State On All, Marker is selected on condition marker = = equal to true.
Try this, but set Variable Marker to value TRUE, and see if that helps.
I don't think you need a variable here just use a visited state on the marker and use that to unlock the next button

I tried your suggestions - Jan & Walt, but i think i over completed things. I will attach the file for you to see. ( i changed it to what Phil Mayor suggested after going through both your instructions)
I deleted my triggers and variables and tried what Phil Mayor said and it worked.
Thank you so much again, i am so grateful to you ALL for your help. I will attach file next time Christie, that would make it so much easier. (didn't know that was possible). Oh you guys don't know how much stress you saved me, its taken me nearly 2 days - should have jumped on here sooner. THANK YOU so much once again <3 have a great day
