Master pages: creating text styles and applying them to slides

Jan 08, 2014

Hi,

I'm quite new to storyline and have recently created a storyline project that changes need to be made to. I've created a master page that the client likes, and now I want to know how to/if I can import my old slides and apply the text style in the master page (with the alignment and fonts) to the slides from the previous project.

I've right clicked the slide and selected the master slide layout I want, but the text box of the master is uneditable.

1. Can I edit the textbox of a master slide once it's applied to a slide? (not in the master view menu)

2. Can I apply the text style/font/alignment I have in my master to an existing slide with text?

Thanks for any help!

Hi Jess and welcome to Heroes!

You shouldn't have any problem updating text on a slide that is based on the format/style in a master layout, but if you'd added text elements or images to a layout and applied those to a slide, you won't be able to remove them from the individual slide without changing the layout. So for example, here is a simple .story file - you'll see looking at the one slide there is a small image and a text box - both of those are brought in from the master slide layout, and therefore cannot be edited or removed from the slide without changing the layout. The "title" placeholder includes some placeholder text that when you click in the box disappears and you're able to set your own text.

For more information on working with slide masters you'll want to review this tutorial.
