I have a menu bar system based in the master slide layers, basically it works like below:
Base layer - menu button (click to show layer 1)
Layer 1 - menu bar flies in (you have the ability to navigate to different slides from here) (click menu again to show layer 2)
Layer 2 - changes the state of all objects on layer to hidden when timeline starts. (menu bar flies away)
This works perfectly, however, say you are on slide 10, then bring up the menu bar and go to slide 9. When you advance to slide 10 again, the menu bar pops up automatically.
Have you checked into the "revisit" properties for that slide? You may want to set it "reset to initial state" if you'd like the menu to appear only when the user clicks on the menu button. For more information about how to update the slide properties, please review this tutorial.
