Master Slide Playback Controls - Timed Appearance

Nov 28, 2016

Hello all,

I have created custom playback controls in a master slide using triggers.  The controls are timed so that a "Forward" button appears one second before the end of the timeline, assuring the user watches the entire slide before advancing.

My issue is that, when this Master is applied to slides of varying durations, the Forward button does not appear unless the duration of the Master Slide matches the duration of the Slide in the Scene.

Is there a way (without using layers) to accomplish a button appearing one second before the end of the timeline using a master, even if the story slides are of varying durations?

Hi Dave,

Really interesting idea, and I'd be curious if you're able to share the .story file in question so that folks in the community could take a look at that and weigh in on the specifics. It'll be something outside the realm of support as a how to or design issue, so you could also look at posting this question in the Building Better Courses side of the forums where folks tend to share more design and how to related questions and ideas.

Hi Ashley,

Sadly (as I've seen many times in the forums) since it is for a professional organization, I cannot share the deck due to limitations in IP, etc.

If there is no solution, I understand.  I have definitely perused the Building Better Courses forums and found nothing on this.

It will simply be a cut-and-paste job on each slide to make sure the buttons' timing is done.  Time-consuming, but not the end of the world.

Ah, certainly understand that Dave - and sometimes folks are able to share a stripped down version with content removed, so I always like to ask!

The only solution I could imagine is to use that button on each individual slide, hopefully it's as easy as copy/paste and go from there to ensure it's set up for each slide as you'd like. Sorry I couldn't offer more ideas beyond that!
