I am trying to insert videos into my storyline project but each time I try I receive this message:
I have asked our IT Support team to check out my computer and we supposedly have the up to date players on the college network? The files are wmvs. Can someone please advise?
You should be able to insert a WMV file, but I looked at some older threads with the same error message, and the recommendation was to try and convert the WMV into another file type. I'm not sure if that would work for you, but there are suggestions of free conversation tools in the thread linked.
Additionally, you mentioned the players being up to date on the college network, but you'll also want to be inserting files off your local drive and I would confirm that your individual hard drive it up to date with the different players.
Thanks Ashley I will give that a go. I did read that storyline should automatically convert files to the MP4 format but as my files are actually just screen recordings using smartboard software, I feel this error may have something to do with that. I did successfully insert a random wmv file later that afternoon so will try using Storyline's screen recordings to see if that is better. Still learning!!!!!
Thanks for the update. Storyline does reencode video files into an MP4. I haven't seen recordings from Smartboard software but if you were able to insert another random WMV it could be something associated with the WMV file that Smartboard created. Let us know if you need anything else!
