Menu item

Aug 27, 2014

For the life of me I can't get the menu to include an item that is missing. It is the Results slide. I tried resetting from the player and menu tabs to no avail! Any ideas?

Hello Charles!

Articulate Storyline doesn't show results slides in the menu when previewing or publishing, by design.

If you would like to display a result slide in your course menu, do the following:

  1. Create a new scene in Storyline and give it a meaningful name. http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/using-story-view.aspx
  2. Move the result slide to the new scene. It needs to be the only slide in the scene.
  3. Adjust triggers on the feedback layers for the last slide in your quiz, so they jump to the result slide in the new scene: http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/adding-and-editing-triggers.aspx

Everything is documented here: http://www.articulate.com/support/storyline/result-slides-will-not-display-in-the-menu

If you need anything further, please let us know!

Just an FYI: Here's how to have "Results" show up in the Menu without giving it its own scene:

  • Insert a slide right before the actual Results slide. This slide could be blank, but I suggest making it look a bit like the actual Results. For example, at least use the same title text box.
  • Add a trigger to the new slide that jumps to the next slide (i.e., the actual Results) when the timeline begins.
  • Name the actual Results slide "real Results" or something like that to avoid confusion with the new "Results" slide.
  • Ta da: the faux Results slide can appear in the Menu. And it will always go to the actual Results.
  • Caveat: Don't include a "jump to previous slide" trigger on the actual Results slide. That would just go to the faux Results, which would go back to the actual Results. You'd either have to hard-code the PREV button to go to a specific slide, or just don't use it at all.
