Menu / slide greying out problem

Hi everyone, I've recently starting making an e-learning module where the user can hopefully click on any menu item at any time. But when I preview or publish it, the slides only load once, after which they are greyed out in the left menu. If I try clicking on these previous slides to re-visit them, they simply won't load. And then, this seems to crash the whole project because no matter which slide I try clicking, the slide area is all greyed out...there is no content displaying anymore!
The menu navigation is set to "Free", and I've tried the "Reset to initial state" option. I've been using simple scenes and slides (no video/audio) and have not messed with Layers or States at all. And I've been using the Trial version of Storyline (hopefully that's not the problem?).
If some kind soul can help me out, I would really really appreciate it!

This has been going on with me too! I find that restarting my PC solves it but it is weird.. it almost acts like it deactivates the software and you can't do anything.

Thanks for the replies guys...I tried publishing my project and running it on my desktop PC and it worked fine! For some reason, the issue is on my laptop...so it might be an accessory software (e.g. Flash, or .Net framework) problem...or my laptop's hardware is not powerful enough, even though it does meet the minimum requirements.
Anyway, I'll continue working on the laptop for now, and will just test it on my PC every now and then. I'll keep you posted If the same thing starts happening on my PC as well, or if I run into more problems.
