Menu Triggers

Apr 06, 2020

Hi there.

I have been using the discussion panel throughout my online course I am building and the one thing I have yet to figure out is how I can make my menu screen grey out once users have completed a scene and how to make sure they can't skip to the final module which is the quiz. I have the newest version of Storyline 3.

How my screen looks right now is they start the course and the first slide that comes up is my menu slide with 4 boxes linked to a different scene. I want them to go to the first scene, complete it, and return back to the home page to a grayed out box.

As of right now I have it with the visited condition, but that allows them to click on the box, return home and continue like this right onto the quiz without reading any of the scenes.

Is this possible? And if so what triggers do I need to use etc.

There is a sample attached to the first post in this discussion" https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/free-sample-restricted-and-free-random-navigation-using-variables-and-triggers

The Restricted Navigation shows exactly what you are asking, with two caveats:

1. Clicking on the menu buttons causes you to go to different slides, but you can easily change those jump triggers to go to different scenes.

2. The bigger problem is that the learner can go to the slide, and click to return without reading, or doing anything. To force them to contact the material, you may want to set up some sort of interaction before they return from the scene to the menu. If you opt to do that, be sure to set the Continue button to hidden until after the interaction is completed.
