Menu works properly on PC but not tablet
Jul 07, 2016
This seems really weird. I've built a course with quizzes at the end of each menu section that feed into a section end results slide that in turn feed into a final results slide at the end after the menu. I used a previous template that a colleague had built, utilising the same triggers and variables.
When I publish to our LMS, everything works as it should on the PC, but on a tablet the menu options appear triggered and in their visited state when you first get to the menu. As soon as you select a menu item and return after completing the end of section quiz - the menu has reset and only the viewed section appears as visited.
When I publish my colleague's original course, the menu works perfectly on both PC and tablet. And here's where it gets weirder. I took the same colleague course and changed the Intro content before the menu and cut and pasted new content into one of the menu sections. I left the menu and all of the triggers and variables untouched and republished. The result was the same triggering issue appearing on the tablet. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

Hi Iain, Do you know if the menu triggers are build using 'change of state' or 'variable' trigger formats?
Hi Christine - the menu buttons change state from normal to visited. The change of state is triggered by set of variables that activate when the learner has passed the quiz relevant to that menu option.

Hi Iain!
I'm not sure that I fully understand what you are describing here. Any chance you could share the .story file for us to take a look and share the steps to replicate?
Thanks guys but I've done a step by step rebuild and the problem has gone. Not sure I've found out why the first version didn't work as expected on a tablet when it was OK on the PC?
Well, glad to hear that it's working for you now. Thanks for the update Iain. Hard to say without having seen the issue. If you run into issues again, feel free to reach back out.
Thanks Leslie - I think my next one will be built from scratch rather than using a previous course as a template. I was just seeing if anyone had a similar issue and maybe I was missing something obvious.
I understand Iain. Hopefully someone will chime in if they have info to share :)
