Merge Storyline Files With Screen Recordings

Apr 19, 2013

Hello- This is my first post to the forums,

I read or think I read in the past about a bug that exists for merging multiple storyline files when there are recordings in both files.  I have been searching for more information about this and I cannot find it.  So, I am asking for help.

1.  Is there still an issue with this (based on my tests, I assume yes)

2.  Is there any work around?  We planned our project to accommodate this bug but now we have found some content issues in some of our demonstrations/recordings and need to rerecord and then reinsert.  Given the bug, this seems like we will not be able to do this without rebuilding the entire course.  Is there a way to insert from a file that contains recordings to another file that contains recordings?

3.  If there is a work around, where can I learn about how to implement it?

Thanks
Dayle

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Dayle!

I'm afraid I haven't been able to duplicate this on my end. Can you provide a little more information about what type of screen recordings you' have in your courses? Are they step-by-step and single video, etc.?

The first thing I would do is make sure that all project files are local before you try importing the slides.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Also, be sure you're using the following method to import slides from existing courses:

Importing from Another Storyline Project

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks,

Christine

Good morning Dayle,

As Phil suggested, you may want to make sure you're running the most recent version of Storyline. To find this information, click on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline". If you're not running version 2 (1212.1412), please download and install Update 2 from the link below.

Articulate Storyline > Download Update 2

Let us know if you still run into trouble after checking the information in my original response and installing the update.

Thanks!

Christine
