Minimum number of slides viewed to complete: MUST versus CAN

Jul 18, 2017

Hi,

I have a training with total 4 slides.
a) 2 "normal" slides: A start slide and a slide with a video.
MUST: The learner has to look to the 2 slides.

b) 2 lightbox slides in the topbar right.
CAN: The 2 lightbox slides are only help-pages. The learner can look to them.

Now I have a problem with the tracking-property "Minimum number of slides viewed to complete".

Property 4 of 4:
If I don't open the lightbox slides the training is not completed.
But this slides are only help-slides.

Property 3 of 4:
If the learner open the 2 lightbox slides from th start-slide the training is completed.
But it could be that the learner has not open the video-slide.

Property 2 of 4:
If the learner open one of the lightbox slides from the start-slide the training is completed.
But it could be that the learner has not open the video-slide.

Is there a possibility to flag a slide / a lightbox slide like "do not count in the tracking"?

Or is there an other possibility to solve that issue?

Hi Daniela!

Great question and looks like you have a firm grasp of the possibilities and how this tracking may not work effectively.

My first thought is to control the slide navigation, then track once the learner reaches a certain slide. You could then leave the help slides as they are if needed.

You can restrict or lock navigation in an Articulate Storyline 2 course to prevent learners from skipping ahead without actually finishing the content. Here's how.  If you'd like to report completion to your LMS on a specific slide in your Articulate Storyline 2 course, see this article for one way to do it.
