I am testing Artiuclate 360 at the moment and I have a unsolved Problem.
Is it possible for the learner to go along to the next slide by klicking "Continue" after a deposited specific time (f.e. 6 second), but not automaticly.
You could add a cue point on the masterslide's timeline at 6 secs. Then add two slide triggers, one that sets the state of the Continue button to Disabled when timeline starts, and a second trigger that changes the state to Normal when timeline reached cue point 1.
But now I have this problem: If I visit a slide and jump on to the next slide and then go back to the already visited slide I have to wait 6 sec. again, until the "next" button appears. Are there any Solutions that the trigger does not take effect when I have already visited a slide?
Here's the solution: Create a T/F variable (e.g., Slide1Done) with an initial value of False. In the trigger that disables the NEXT button, add a condition to perform that trigger if the variable is False. Also add a trigger that adjusts the variable to TRUE when the timeline reaches the cue point (in addition to the trigger that enables the NEXT button at the cue point).
By the way, if you want users to view the entire timeline for every slide, you can simply set the Player's Menu option to Restricted (see image). With that, Storyline will automatically disable the NEXT button the first time the user goes to a slide. Storyline will enable the NEXT button when the slide is done playing, and the NEXT button will automatically stay enabled if the user returns to the previously viewed slide. Note, though, that this prevents the user from using the built-in Menu to advance to a new slide.

Thanks a lot for your help! 😊

Hi, Christina,

If you're not familiar with variables and conditions, check out the Storyline user guide (https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-360). These functions are incredibly useful.
