Missing file - story_html5.html

Jan 06, 2021

Hi,

I have published and the folder is created. However, the folder only has the following: html5, mobile, story_content --> folders and analytics-frame, meta, story --> files. I am referring to a course which asks me to make changes to the story_html5.html which is missing. Mozilla Browser and Windows 7 SP2 is the configuration. What is going wrong here?

Hello Gita and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

We simplified the published output in Storyline 360 builds 3.35.20995.0 and later. When you publish HTML5-only or Flash-only courses, Storyline no longer generates the following files in your published output:

  • index_lms_flash.html
  • index_lms_html5.html
  • story_flash.html
  • story_html5.html

You'll only see the files above when you publish courses with both HTML5 and Flash formats.

I don’t see the logic in republishing as html5 with flash fallback if flash has gone away.

I have courses that were published as html5 only, and now I'm having issues on some of my coworkers computers.

The courses are set to display the story.html file. Works fine on Chrome, but some people get the flash error screen when viewed in IE. When they change the URL to story_html5.html, it displays correctly in IE.

What is going on here?

I agree, Beverley. It wasn't a recommendation, but more to help understand the file structure and the change.

If you're seeing a story_html5.html file, this likely means it was not published as HTML5 only.

Do you know what version of Storyline 360 was used to publish the content? I'd be happy to take a look at your published output .zip file.
