Mofifying Templates

Aug 10, 2012

I am a newby to Articulate Storyline and have just begun to download some of the free templates provided on this site.  I downloaded one that on it's own is excellent however i have my own templated created as a slide master in PPT and imported.  I want to merge some of the elements.  My question is, how can i edit the template that i downloaded i.e. currently the background image takes up the whole frame and it does not seem to be an element that was added that i can remove or resize.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Adrian, thanks for the help.

I downloaded the Notebook Outline from the E-Learning Templates for use with Storyline.  I am working within Storyline and am using a company template built in PPT for the course i'm working on.  I would like to use the interactions from the Notebook Outline including the background image of the notebook however it looks like it is contained within the master.  I can’t figure out how to open the master and ceparate the elements.  Is it possible to do this from within Storyline or to export it to PPT and make changes there by editing the master?  Ultimately i want to end up with the Notebook tample resized so that it will fit into my company template.

Thanks again.

Chris,

You should be able to double click on the layout in Story View to open it in the Slide View. Then go to the View tab and select Slide Master. You could then copy any of the elements from there that you like.

Then go to your Corporate template and just paste the notebook elements on the slides that you'd like. Hope that helps.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Fernanda!

Are you referring to one of the templates included in Storyline, or the one that's available for download, here?

If you're referring to the template available in the link above, there's a couple of ways you can change the label colors. The quickest, would be to select the label in the slide and then click on "Recolor" under the "Format" tab.

Once you're here you can either adjust the color using the presets, or you can click on "More Variations" and choose a custom color.

It should look something like this:

If this isn't what you're trying to do, just let me know!

Thanks,

Christine

I have a storyline  file that someone else created but the saved version is a . storytemplate file so when I try to open it to make a minor update, it opens as if I am importing a template, or something.  The issue is that I can't find a way to make the changes I need to make.  How do I open it as a traditional story file?

Hi Gay,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

The .storytemplate file is a template that was created. This is not the original project file. If you need to make adjustments to a project, you'll want to open or have them share the .story file.

If you are unable to get access to the original file, you could use the template to create a new project and add your new content.
