I building a scene where I want a picture to move right or left based on what arrows people click. And I if the visitor is viewing the right side of the photo I would like the picture not to jump to center first but have the motion path the left side of the picture all the way through to get them to the other side. Any use for "relative point" with this?
The relative starting point will set the start of the motion based on the current location of the object. Without it, the motion path always starts where the object path originated.

Thanks Tom I tried to put use it. I didn't see to work for me. it jumps back to the middle before moving when i click to go the other direction
Well, it actually it goes back to middle and I have to click a second time to get it to go to the very other side but i can work with that
Here's an idea that may work better for you using sliders.
