Mouse hover frustration

Mar 09, 2016

OK I have had a look around but not able to see if this has come up before.

I have a mouse over event that is on a large rectangle.  It is all filled as a solid fill.  Yet when I preview, if the mouse is at the top of the rectangle.  The layer it shows flickers.  If I move the mouse over the lower half it displays correctly.  If using the top half, when it flickers and I click, it then displays.  I also have the odd issue that when my mouse moves away, the shown layer stays!

The layer it shows is just a larger screen shot and has an animation to grow.  Simulating a zoom.

I have tried using a hotspot as well and it does not work.

Before people ask, I can not post up a copy of the story as it is for a client and there is market sensitive data in there that can not be shared.

Actually, just as I am posting this I can add more info.

The grow animation is from the right which cuts across the mouse over area in the top part of the rectangle.  So this I am guessing is moving the animation under the mouse pointer at that point, so the mouse is no longer over the rectangle!

So it appears that the animation is breaking the line of sight for the mouse and it just resets.

I seem to have answered my own question but hope it may help others?

Yes, as answered in my own question.

Still get the odd random mouse out issue with the layer staying on but I can live with that.

I created a grow animation and a motion path to keep it clear of the mouse over area and still look reasonable.

Just a pity you can not put the slide layer or elements of the slide layer behind objects on the base slide but hey ho workarounds will win the day.
