mp4 videos don't replay on iPad (Storyline 360)

Jan 11, 2017

Hi,

we are building a course with lots of video content and a voiceover in each slide. There is an issue with replaying video slides on iPad. While videos play fine the first time you visit a slide they don't play upon revisiting. The timeline, animations and voiceover play fine. Now, here's the funny part:

THIS WAY VIDEOS REPLAY FINE:

1. slide property - reset to initial state

2. custom REPLAY button on that slide with a 'jump to slide'  trigger (it jumps back to the same slide)

THIS WAY THEY DON'T REPLAY

1. slide property - reset to initial state

2. coming back from the next slide with 'jump to previous slide' trigger

Hope this all makes sense. Did anyone have a similar issue and/or have a fix for this?

(We're using Storyline 360 v3.2.9664.0 and iOS 10.2

Testing is done in Articulate Review and Moodle 2.7 on our website)

I can share a testing .story file if this would be of any help.

Thanks

Marina

Hi there Marina,

Thanks for sharing those details here. What you're describing sounds very similar to a known issue with videos not replaying when the slide is revisited on iOS devices. Could we get a look at the .story file in question? That way we'll be able to verify that the behavior you're seeing is related. You can upload it here using the Add Attachment button or send along to our team here.

Hi all,

Great news! Articulate 360 Update 4  was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here.  The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixed various issues when editing videos in Storyline 360 and viewing videos in published output.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.
