Mulitple layer timeline states not changing

Mar 03, 2017

Hi,

I am having an issue with multiple layer properties not working together. One layer I have set up with objects that link to different areas of the presentation almost as "map" of where you have been. Upon clicking an object it will change its state to "visited". This layer I have set up to resume saved state. Another "progress" layer I have set up to display the "map" layer. The progress layer is set up to reset to initial state. When publish both layers reset to the initial state upon the slide reloading as well as when visiting the progress layer. Any reason for this?

Hi Mike,

Is your "progress" layer a copy of the "map" layer - or just set to also show the "map" layer while being shown? I think as Rex mentioned it'd be a bit easier to understand the set up and offer some suggestions if you're able to share a copy of the .story file here with us. You’ll want to upload the .story file here (which is the file prior to publishing) using the “ADD ATTACHMENT” button at the bottom of the forums reply window.

Hi Mike,

I didn't see a layer labeled "maps" so I was unsure which one you were referring too. You also mentioned some JS triggers, but I didn't see those based on the few slides I looked at either, so perhaps this is the wrong file? If you're trying to show certain layers and set their status based on JS triggers, I'll have to defer to the community for further expertise as it's not something that we offer support for.

The slide is the "March" slide for that month. The layers are "Progress", "Base" and "Events"

The progress layer just shows the Events layer as a check of what all was done and completed. It also executes some JS to calculate the % of events that they completed based on the SL variables in the presentation. All the events do on the events layer is redirect to a different area of the presentation that is not filled out.

The problem is that the events layer is not saving the visit state on the events that were visited. The layer is being reset to the initial state on every visit because the "progress" layer is set to reset to initial state.

Hopefully this makes a little more sense. sorry about the confusion and thanks again for the help.
