Multiple Down states for a picture / button [is it possible?]

Apr 19, 2021

Hi all,

Is it possible to have multiple down states for a single element? Or create custom states that can act like the default down state using triggers? (this option under mouse events seems to be missing)

This is what I’m trying to achieve:
I have a key pad that by default each key has a this blue downstate:

But at some point I want the same button to temporary have a down state that is red like this:

(The learner is expected to enter a specific set of numbers and as each number is entered different keys on the pad will be valid / invalid (represented by either the colour blue or red).

I know it’s possible to create the illusion with a complex set of layers and duplicating the key pad for each digit as they are entered. The issue with this is that if anything changes for this particular slide (such as moving or resizing the keypad) this will require multiple layer changes (multiple key pads) rather than just the one.

I've also deleted the default down state for the button then set a trigger to change the state of the button to blue or red but I'm having a difficult time resetting the state back to normal. I cannot get the blue / red state to show up just for the duration of the click.

Storyline could do with the mouse events Mouse-DOWN and Mouse-UP.

I'm hoping I have missed somethin obvious, does anyone have the secret sauce that can achieve this effect without needing to duplicate the keypad multiple times?

Thank you
