Multiple Layers and Interaction Not Jiving?

Aug 24, 2012

Hello:

I'm hoping someone can provide some insight. The gist of what I'm trying to create: a drag-and-drop interactivity which first requires you to hover over each of the three items (to be dragged) in order to reveal more detail about the objects.

When I set everything up, my drag-and-drop capability is absolutely squashed in the preview. I can't even click and drag an item.

Has anyone experienced this quirk, or am I making a common error? Or, are these functions simply not meant to coexist?

Thanks so much!

Jenna

Matthew,

Thanks for your speedy reply! I had previously been working with layers, and that's when my drag-and-drop interaction did not work.

Taking your suggestion and moving functionality (that which had previously been revealed through layers during hover) into states, my drag-and-drop now works, but nothing actually happens upon hovering??

I may be even more confused now.

Thanks much for taking a look!

Hi Jenna,

I have looked at your project.

You don't need the extra layers (scenario 1, 2 and 3), in fact, you need to edit the "hover" state of your images on the base layer so it includes the details you want to add.

When your hover state is selected for edition, you can modify it as you wish, you could simply copy/paste your arrows in them.

Hope it helps and don't hesitate to post back if you need further information.

Have a nice day!

Thanks to everyone for your help!

I hadn't realized that one of the changes that my colleague made was in creating a duplicate of the master layer, and that's where I had inadvertently hidden the hover state conditions.

A new issue, perhaps? Has anyone else experienced the problem of  having objects not appear "on top" while on hover? I have many objects on the layer, and I want to have my arrows appear (on top of everything else) upon hover, but that is not always the case. It seems that, if I fix one scenario's hover state, then another one of the two gets messed up.

I've messed around with it for a good hour now. I'm obviously missing something. If anyone happens to know a solution, you'd save me much head-banging!

THANK YOU!

Jenna
