need to re-format text boxes over many slides

Apr 09, 2013

Hi There,

I need to go in and change the look of all of my text boxes over multiple slides. Is there a way to do this without going into each one? Is there a way to automate this process so it doesn't take so long?

Thanks!

Katherine

My favorite method for this is the Format Painter. Say you have a text box with the formatting you prefer and the formatting you want to carry through to all the text boxes in your other slides. Click on the text box (try to click on the boarder so the box is selected, not the text) and then double-click on the Format Painter under the "Clipboard" section of the menu, in the upper left-hand corner of Storyline. Now you can jump into other slides and click on the other text boxes - the new formatting should take place on each text box you click on. When you're finished, click on the Format Painter again.

Here's a tutorial on the Format Painter, just in case you want more information on this feature:

Using the Storyline Clipboard

If you have any questions, or need any help, just let me know!

Thanks :)

+1, although would be nice to do it all in one go.

Ummmm....well, it's very finnicky and not really working that well. Sorry to say, but this feature needs work and yes, it would be best if I could specify what style I wanted and it should carry through to all the text boxes or something like that.

Why not make a custom style?

This is going to take me a long time to fix.

Thanks,

If you have used the text boxes on built in master slides and not changed the formatting then simply changing the slide master would sort this.

If you used the project level fonts on the design tab and only wanted to change fonts, changing the setting here would change all the fonts.

The problem is if you started out with the default font and then changed it manually this cannot be overwritten because storyline believed you changed it for a good reason and would not want it changing back.

I have never had a problem using the format painter, it can be a bit fiddly but does what I need.

This method may work well for "text formatting", but it really does nothing at all for the text bot itself.

I have slides that were imported from Power Point 2010, and I am using a template in SL2. Unfortunately, the slides that were imported completely ignored the text boxes that were placed on the slides by the Slide Masters.

What I have ended up with on each slide are two text boxes: one from the SL slide master (empty), and one from the imported slide (very much out of alignment).

Any suggestions on how to make all of the imported text boxes align up without having to do this one slide at a time? Format Painter will not do this (size / position).
