Need Variable Help
Mar 21, 2016
I would appreciate someone taking a look at this slide. I'm sure it's something obvious but I just can't see it -- I'm fairly new to using Storyline.
When timeline reaches 45 seconds, I zoom and display a layer. I have variables turning true when each one is clicked on the layer. I then want to hide the layer and return to the base and resume the timeline. I have set up a trigger set up to hide layer when all variables are true.
So where am I going wrong? Thank you wonderful Articulate Community.

Hi Jeanne
try changing the triggers on your layers from
Hide layer this layer when marker1a changes to:
Hide layer this layer when marker 1 clicked if all the others markers are true and repeat this on all the layers.
So you are clicking a marker which turns the variable to true and then you are testing after each marker clicked that each one is true before hiding the layer.
Make sure the hide layer trigger is attached to the marker on each layer and is after the set marker xx to true when user clicks
Hope this makes sense
Hi Jeanne:
If you add a state to each marker ("clicked") and then hide they layer when the state of each hotspot is changed it clicked. It does work.
The only issue you might want to consider is that as soon as the last item is clicked the layer closes (zooms out). This might be faster than the learner has time to read the last pop up for the last hotspot.
Thanks so much for you reply. I'll give it a try. Would I not have to add the trigger "Hide layer this layer when marker 1 clicked if all the others markers are true and repeat this on all the layers" for EACH of the markers/variables on the layer? (e.g. Hide layer when marker2 clicked if etc.)
STATES! Of course. Brilliant. Let me give it a try. Let me see if I can adjust the timing for the last pop-up. Thank you!
